Eli R. Kos, 82, WW II Veteran, Lorain Ford Retiree

Eli R. Kos, 82, of Lorain, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain following a short illness. Born August 1, 1920 he has lived his entire life here.

He served in the US Navy during World War II as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, African-Middle Eastern-European Area and the American Area Medal.

He worked as a pipe fitter in the maintenance department of the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, Lorain for 26 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local # 425.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julia (nee Rango), son, Kenneth of Lorain, daughters Sharon Fishach, of Lorain, and Nancy Kos, of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Jeffords, on February 4, 2003, parents Peter Kos and Rose (nee Verefchak) Kos, brothers, Mike and Andrew, sisters Rose and Mary.

Private family services where held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Woos, assistant pastor of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain, officiated. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, handled the arrangements.
