Howard L. Moore Sr., 72, Korean War Veteran

Howard L. Moore Sr., 72, of Lorain, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness. He was born November 4, 1930 in Avon Lake and had resided in Lorain most of his life. He grew up in Avon Lake.

Mr. Moore served with the US Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal.

He worked at Freuhauf Trailor as a forklift operator and then at AMSHIP as a rigger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and country music television.

He is survived by his sons: Charles Moore, Howard Moore Jr., and Edward Kochheiser, all of Lorain, daughters: Kathy Rush, Tina Moore, and Jean Booker (nee Bogan), all of Lorain, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Earl Moore Sr., of Lorain and sisters: Betty Leonard of Avon Lake, Alma Warner and Cora Mitcheff, of Lorain, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda J. Moore in 1996, daughter Linda Sue Thomas, parents Henry and Ethel Moore (nee Heileman), brothers: Paul Moore, William Moore, Charles Moore, Henry Moore, Harold Moore, and Edward Moore, and sisters Ruthanne Moore and Louis Anne Moore.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March15, 2003 at 11:00 am at New Apostolic Church, 39291 Leavitt Rd., Lorain. The Rev. Adam Welch, pastor, will officiate.
