Lawrence A. "Pudge" Sooy, 84, LaGrange Lions Club Member

He was born Saturday, August 24,1913 in Penfield Twp., and lived in the LaGrange/Penfield area most of his life.
Mr. Sooy worked for several years for Harshaw Chemical Co. and then for Tappan Air Conditioning before his retirement in 1980.

Mr. Sooy is a member of the LaGrange Lions Club where he served as past president and is the 3rd recipent of the Melvin Jones Award, an award for international service to the Lions organization, he served and participated in every operation of the Lions Club, and that he is one of the oldest members of the LaGrange Lions Club.

Mr. Sooy was active in several community activities, & enjoyed music, gardening, sports, and watching his sons & grandchildren participate in sports.

He is survived by his wife Bertha (Gerling) Sooy married 24 years, 3 Sons Kenneth L. Sooy of LaGrange Ohio, Keith L. Sooy of Medina of Ohio, Tom E. Sooy of Plam Harbor, Fla., 1 Stepson M.Jeffery Earl of Lake Placid, N.Y., 12 grandchildren & 9 Great grandchildren, 1 Sister Sue Marley of Kehei, Maui, Hawaii.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Orville & Stella Sooy, his 1st wife Edna Lottman Sooy, 1 sister Margaret Payne, a daughter Phyllis (Sooy) Webb.

Friends may call in the Blackburn Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton Monday, March 17th from 5-8pm with funeral services in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am with Rev. George Showers pastor of Seville Church of God, in Alma Michigan, a close friend of the family. Burial will be in River Rd. Cemetery.
