Mary Ann Pappas, 92, Owned and Operated City Grill in Elyria
Mary Ann Pappas (nee Kaurich), 92, of Amherst, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Amherst Manor Nursing Home, Amherst following a lengthy illness. She was born June 26, 1910 in Steelton, Pennsylvania and has been a Lorain resident most of her life, living in Amherst for the past 6 years.
She and her husband had owned and operated a Grocery Store on Lodi Rd., in Elyria and had also owned and operated City Grill in Elyria through the 1950's.
Mrs. Pappas was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain. She especially enjoyed baking.
Survivors include one step-grandson, Gilbert Pappas Jr., two sisters, Ann Merves of Lorain, and Helen Bodnar of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Angel Pappas in 1972, parents, Nicholas and Katherine (nee Dermes) Kaurich, stepson Gilbert Pappas Sr., brothers George and Steve Kaurich and sister Katherine Kerpics.
Friends may call Wednesday March, 19, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7:30 pm.
Divine Liturgy will be held Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 11:00 am at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain, Ohio 44053, with the Rev. Michael Gulgas, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
