Helen A. Kendera, 93, Enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and her family and friends

Helen A. Kendera (nee Durk), 93, of Avon Lake passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at her home in Avon Lake following a brief illness. She was born October 29, 1909 in New Orleans, Louisiana, was raided in Cleveland and moved to Avon Lake 60 years ago.

She was a homemaker and attended the Avon Lake United Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and her home, family and friends.

Mrs. Kendera is survived by a daughter, Betty Frankiewicz of Sheffield Village, three sons, Lawrence and James both of Avon Lake and Richard Kendera of Vermilion, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Weidner of Cleveland and Marjorie Maier of Pensacola, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. (d. 1997), a daughter Judith (d. 1947), parents John and Mathilda (nee Schwartz) Durk; a brother, Edward Durk and sister Lucille Weidner.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Kelly Peters, Pastor of Avon Lake United Church of Christ will officiate. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Private interment will take place at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cleveland Hospice, 2500 East 22nd St. Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Arrangements handled by the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel.
