Gerry K. Reinker, 80, Enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, needlepoint and spending time with her children and grandchildren

Gerry K. Reinker (nee Kruse) - 80 of Avon Lake, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Monday, March 24, at Fairview Hospital following complications of a heart infection. Mrs. Reinker was born January 27, 1923 in Osnabruck, Germany and came to the United States in 1925 and had lived in Avon Lake since 1948.

Mr. Reinker had worked as a secretary for both Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Avon Lake, and Lorain County Community College where she worked for over 10 years retiring in 1993. She was a graduate of West Tech High School, Cleveland and them received an Associate Degree from Dyke College Cleveland.

Mrs. Reinker was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Avon Lake. She was a member of the Church's Naomi Circle and was an active volunteer. She was a member of the Friday Avon Lake Couples Golf League at Sweetbriar Golf Course, member of the Bay Adult Education Volleyball League and she played tennis at Bleser Field, Avon Lake High School and was a member of Aqua Marine. Other interests included gardening, crafting, sewing, needlepoint and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her husband Franklin A. of 58 years, passed away October 16, 2001. She is survived by sons, Robb (Nancy) of Highland Heights, James (Elizabeth) of Bexley and David (Gwen) of Chicago. Other survivors include grandchildren; Jodi, Adam, Corey, Lori, Daniel and Brian, granddaughter; Payton, Hannah and Julia and a brother William Kruse (Joyce). Besides her husband, Mrs. Reinker is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella (nee Barner) and step-mother Irma Kruse.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, Wednesday, March 26, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 27 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 32747 Lake Rd. Avon Lake 44012 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Eileen Woyen of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to the Church's Memorial Fund.
