Helen L. Jancsura, 99, Enjoyed Needlework and Baking

Helen L. Jancsura (nee Vargo), age 99, of Lorain, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the home of her son following an extended illness.

She was born June 17, 1903 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.

During the Great Depression era, Mrs. Jancsura was employed in the housekeeping department of the former St. Joseph Hospital.

A parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Lorain), she was also a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens' Club of Elyria; her hobbies included needlework, crocheting, and baking.

She is survived by her son: Cornelius "Neil" of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Albert in 1967, by an infant son, Jerome, her parents: Joseph and Theresa (nee Hirtner) Vargo, by her sisters: Margaret Takacs, and by a brother: Joseph Vargo.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where officers and members of the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, March 31, 2003 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend David A. Novak, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggests memorials in her name to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
