Vivian L. Rider (nee Ridenour), 56, of Sheffield Lake, died Friday March 28, 2003 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain after a sudden illness.

She was born October 22, 1946 in Elyria and had resided in Sheffield Lake for the past 16 years moving from Lorain. She was a 1965 graduate of Clearview High School.

Mrs. Rider worked as a cashier at Goodwill Industries in Lorain for 30 years before retiring.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheffield Lake. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and soap opera's. She was an avid bowler and bowled in two leagues at North Coast Shoreway Lanes in Sheffield Lake.

She is survived by her sister Virginia Griest of Sheffield Lake, brothers: Melvin Ridenour of Sheffield Lake, Walter Ridenour of Lorain and Turner Ridenour, Jr. of Fulton, Kentucky; several stepchildren; six nephews and one niece, along with several great nephew and nieces. Other survivors include five great great nephew and nieces and her good friend Isabelle Hill of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond "June" Rider in 1987, parents Turner Ridenour, Sr. in 1975 and Mary Ridenour (nee Hamman) in 1967 and sister Maida Ridenour in 1977.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 12 noon until the time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 633 Harris Rd., Sheffield Lake. The Rev. Greg Varndell, pastor, will officiate. Cremation will follow.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
