Frederick Blahay, 83, Accomplished Handyman
Frederick Blahay, age 83, of Lorain, died Saturday March 29, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness. He was born April 22, 1919 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of the city.Mr. Blahay attended Lorain High School; he was most recently employed as a laborer in the Coke Plant of U.S. Steel's Lorain Works. Prior to that he was employed as an assembler for the Thew Division of Koehring, as a laborer for the American shipbuilding Company, and had also been employed as a truck driver for 27 years.
He was also an accomplished handyman.
Survivors include sons: Edward W. Blahay of Amherst Township, John A. Blahay of Cleveland, stepdaughter: Joyce Durst of Lorain, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Ivalene (nee Perrin) in 1996, by a daughter: Doris Jo Hunt on March 10th, and his parents: Edward and Tillie (nee Long) Blahay.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - 44805 North Ridge Road - Amherst Township. The Reverend John Gross, pastor of Christ Methodist Church will officiate.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - Lorain.
