James W. Shaw, Jr., 62, US Navy Veteran

James W. Shaw, Jr. - 62 of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Cleveland, passed away, Wednesday, April 9, at the Cleveland Clinic from complications of surgery following a long illness. Mr. Shaw was born, June 15, 1940 in Brownsville, PA and had lived in Sheffield Lake since 1968.

Mr. Shaw was a US Navy Veteran, serving on an Aircraft Carrier in the Mediterranean Sea from 1956-1960. He worked for the Ford Motor Company at the Ohio Assembly Plant, Avon Lake as a lift operator for 30 years and had worked until his illness, four years ago.

Mr. Shaw was a member of UAW Local 2000. He possessed some artistic talent, enjoying wood carving and drawing. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Besides his wife, Catherine M. (nee Porter) whom he married, August 20, 1960, Mr. Shaw is survived by son James W. Shaw, III (Terri) of Orlando, FL; daughters, Gloria Jean Noble (Stuart) of Amherst, Tammy M. Bray (Bobby) of Jasper, TN and Patricia J. Buckels (Robert) of Casa Grande, AZ. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Niki, Kristen, Katie, Kaylee, Jason and Aleah; sisters: Ella Marie Hunter of Norwalk, Joan McDonald of WV, and Susan Zitney of PA; brothers: Edward of Leechburg, PA, Francis of Brownsville, PA, Daniel of PA and Michael of PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Henrietta (nee Arrison) and 2 sisters: Virginia Rusch and Edith Auman.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm, Sunday, April 13. Funeral Services will be Monday at the Funeral Home at 11:00am. Fr. Stephen Shields of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sheffield Lake will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
