Virginia Harret M. Hopkins Giar, 90, LPN

She was born Wednesday, September 4, 1912 in Youngstown Ohio, living in the LaGrange most of her life.

She is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Elyria and attended and was a friend of the LaGrange United Methodist Church in LaGrange for many years.

Mrs. Giar is a Licensed Practical Nurse mainly in a private nursing practice, did hearing & vision testing for Lorain County schools, and worked for LaGrange Screw Products until her retirement in 1970. She is a charter den mother in LaGrange, Past President of the LaGrange PTA, and also served as Health Chairman of the PTA for many years. She served as president of the Rogers Women's Republican Club, & was a member of the Martha Circle & Sr. Citizens of LaGrange. Mrs. Giar enjoyed gardening, reading and painting.

She is survived by 1 Daughter Gloria A. Janosko of LaGrange, Ohio; 1 Son Eugene Hopkins of LaGrange, Ohio; 9 Grandchildren & 10 Great Grandchildren; 2 sisters Kathryn Neuman of Phoenix, Az., Ida Neslon of Mansfield, Ohio; 1 Brother William McWilliams of Phoenix, Az.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Rex E. Giar in 1973, 1st husband Alden W. Hopkins in 1966, 1 son John A. Hopkins in 1992, and 3 Sisters Anna Helene Johnson, Helen Dotson, and Ruth Corder.

Friends may call in the Blackburn Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton, Ohio Wednesday, April 16, 2003 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with funereal services Thursday in the LaGrange United Methodist Church at 11:00am with Rev. Ray Ake pastor off.

Burial will be in LaGrange Cemetery, Village of LaGrange.
