Ann M. Karman, 94, A founding member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria
Ann M. Karman, (Horvath), 94, of Elyria, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice. Born April 12, 1909, in Barton, Ohio, she lived in Painesville, before moving to this area in 1919.She was a founding member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, in Elyria, and served as the first President of the parish Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of St. Theresa Circle, and St. Francis of Assisi Circle, both of the parish.
Surviving are her sister, Kathryn Stumphauzer, of Elyria, many nephews and nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: John Karman, in 1991, parents, Stephen Horvath, in 1955, and Rosalia Horvath, in 1982, a brother, Steve Horvath, who was killed in action during World War II and sisters: Helen Bakos and Rose Puskas.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where the altar and rosary society will conduct a service at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by a mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Fr. Gaetano Menegatto, CSJ, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
