Alex "Ajax" Toderick, 78, U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Toderick served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Mr. Toderick was employed with the White Star Trucking Co. in Cleveland and later at the Fruehauf Trailer Company, Avon Lake where he retired after 20 years of service.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake.
Alex was a lifetime member of both Amvets Post #55 of Sheffield Village and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8796 of Avon Lake, where he had formerly served as Chaplain. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #211 of Avon Lake.
He enjoyed working on lawn mowers.
Mr. Toderick is survived by his wife Mary (nee Georgevich-Drop), daughters Bonnie Novak of Parma and Kathy Toderick of Westlake, step-daughters: Ellen Stefanick and Janet Drop both of Florida, Anne Heller of Cuyahoga Falls, Mary Ksiazk of Lorain, and Betty Nunn of Vermilion, step son Joseph Drop of Las Vegas, Nevada, 2 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, 19 step great grandchildren, sister Mildred Laskin of Jefferson, Ohio and brother Joseph Toderick of Medford, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen (nee Belich) second wife Lucinda (nee Rosier) parents, Michael and Catherine (nee Mondige) Toderick, brother Walter Toderick, sisters Stella Mackin and Mary Stuller, step son Charles W. Fortney, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, April 21, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Family and friends are asked to gather at 9:30 AM Tuesday, April 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake, 32929 Lake Road for the celebration of his funeral mass. There will be no services at the funeral chapel. The Reverend Timothy J. O'Connor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain where members and officers of V.F.W. Post #1079 of Elyria will conduct full military honors.
