Joseph D. Bogdan, 52, Maintenance Staff Supervisor
Joseph D. Bogdan, age 52, of Columbus, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at his residence following a sudden illness.Born October 2, 1950 in Lorain, he attended St. Anthony of Padua Parochial School; he later graduated from Lorain Saint Mary High School with the class of 1968. He went on to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he received his Bachelors of Science in Administration Degree in 1973. Mr. Bogdan had been a resident of Franklin County for the past 25 years. He was employed as a Maintenance Staff Supervisor for Reynoldsburg Junior High School. He was also currently serving as President and Delegate of the Reynoldsburg School Support Association.
He attended St. Basil Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain and was associated with Patria Romana Romanian Lodge #38. His hobbies included reading, sailing and golf. He was also an ardent supporter of levies that benefited the Reynoldsburg School District.
Survivors include his parents: Dan and Virginia (nee Toth) Bogdan of Lorain, Ohio, sister: Patt Weber also of Lorain, nieces: Annie, Kiva and Kay and nephew: Michael.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 27, 2003 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of his funeral mass at 10 a.m. in the Catholic church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the church of St. Peter, and the Reverend Andre Matei, pastor of St. Basil Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial park, Amherst Township. A memorial service will also be conducted Tuesday, April 29th at 4:30 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2165 Baldwin Road in Reynoldsburg.
