Ana Maria Nieves, 78, Founding member of Principe de Paz Lutheran Church, and enjoyed cooking and house cleaning
Ana Maria Nieves, 78, of Lorain, died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital Cleveland. Born August 13, 1924 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she has lived in Lorain since 1972.She had worked in the public schools in Puerto Rico as a housekeeper and has also prepared breakfast and lunches there.
She was a founding member of Principe de Paz Lutheran Church, Lorain, where she participated in all church activities. When the church was being constructed she prepared lunches for the workers and actually laid cement for the church's foundation.
She enjoyed cooking and house cleaning.
Surviving are her sons: Ismael Zayas, of Junco, Puerto Rico, Pedro Julio Lind, Jose Antonio Carrion, Luis Angel Santiago, and William Betlran, all of Lorain, daughters: Carmen Iris Lind, and Rita Delgado both of Lorain, 22 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, brothers: Santos Davila of Humacao, Puerto Rico and Candido Nieves of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and sister Juanita Quinonez, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Geronimo Nieves and Jacoba (nee Davila) Nieves, sisters, Emilia Nieves and Sofia Sepulveda.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Principe de Paz Lutheran Church, 1607 E. 31st Street, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 10:00 AM in the Principe e Paz Lutheran Church. Rev. Juan A. Gonzalez, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain is handling the arrangements.
