George Naymik, 83, Enjoyed gardening, dog sitting, and was an avid Perrysburg hockey fan
George Naymik, 83, of Perrysburg and formerly of Lorain, died Friday, April 25, 2003 at his home with his family at his bedside.He was born April 30, 1919 in Lorain and had lived in Lorain most of his life. He was a 1938 graduate of Lorain High School.
As a young man he worked on the Great Lakes before serving his country as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked as a machinist at US Steel in Lorain in Shop Number One for 41 years before retiring.
He was a former member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain where he participated in bingo and making nut roll and pierogie with his fellow parishioners. He enjoyed gardening, dog sitting, and was an avid Perrysburg Hockey fan.
He is survived by his sons: George M. (Valerie) Naymik of Perrysburg and Jim (Barb) Naymik of Defiance, grandchildren Melissa (Seth) Linebrink, Nicholas Naymik, Zachary Naymik and Trevor Naymik, great grandson Ethan James Linebrink. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (nee Yazek) in 1981, parents John and Anna (nee Kundracik) Naymik, sister Anna Naymik and brothers Steve Naymik, Michael Naymik, and Joe Naymik.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 29, 2003 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 12 Noon at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. James Batcha, pastor of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
