Mary Hartley, 83, Enjoyed crafts, cooking, and gardening

Photo of Mary Hartley Mary Hartley, (nee Franko), 83, of Amherst, died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a one-month illness.

She was born November 24, 1919 in Braddock, Pennsylvania and had resided in Amherst for the past 50 years moving from Lorain. She attended Lorain High School.

Mrs. Hartley was a member of the Amherst Homemakers for over 30 years and the Good Sam and Northeast Ohio Camping Clubs.

She enjoyed crafts, cooking, and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Paul (Laurel) Mate of Avon Lake, granddaughter Cheryl Mate of Nashville, Tennessee, and sister Agnes Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Eugene C. Hartley in 1984, parents Andrea and Anna (nee Telatnik) Franko, a sister Ann Franko and brothers John and Michael Franko.

Friends may call Thursday, May 1, 2003 from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Darlene Robinson, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
