Luis Alvarado, 88, Invested a great deal of time on the mission field in Mexico
Luis Alvarado, 88 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003 at his home following a brief illness.He was born November 22, 1914 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He moved from Monterrey, Mexico to Floridaon December 20, 1955 where he lived till 1962. Elyria has been his home since 1962.
He was employed by the Chronicle Telegram for 13 years, retiring in 1976 from the maintenance department. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Elyria, and also of the Silver Saints at the Church. He invested a great deal of time on the Mission Field in Mexico.
Survivors include his on Juan Alvarado of Monterrey, Mexico, his daughters: Maria Smith of Castalia, Ohio, Hortencia "Connie" Alvarado, Anselma Gloria Bernacki, both of Elyria, and Guada Lupe Kopowski of Sheffield Lake, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, brothers: Jesus Alvarado and Felipe Alvarado, both of Monterrey, Mexico, and his sister Carmen Alvarado of Monterrey, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Maria Alvarado (nee Flores), in 1956, and by his sons Jesus and Jose Luis Alvarado, both in 1956.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 29, 2003 from 5-9 PM at Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Road, Elyria, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor, and Pastor Juan Alvarado, son of Luis and Missionary to Monterrey, Mexico, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
