Edward J. DeChant, III, 47, Enjoyed painting, woodcarving, hunting and spending time with his children

Edward J. DeChant, III - 47 of Elyria, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, May 1 at his home. Mr. DeChant was born, October 3, 1955 in Lorain and had lived in Avon Lake until moving to Elyria 7 years ago.

Mr. DeChant attended Northland College, Wisconsin on a football scholarship. He was self-employed as an Operating Engineer and enjoyed painting, woodcarving, hunting and spending time with his children.

He is survived by his children, son, Dennis E. DeChant of Avon Lake and daughter, Sara L. DeChant (Joseph) of Grafton. Other survivors include his father, Edward F. DeChant, Jr. and sisters, Dorothy Blackham of North Ridgeville, Deb Maxine Acord of Avon Lake and Diane DeChant of North Ridgeville. He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy M. (nee Smisek) DeChant.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Sunday, May 4 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4:30 p.m. Cremation by Busch Crematory.
