Mary Zimmerman, 79, Interests included ballrom dancing, swing dancing, and animals
Mary Zimmerman (nee Vukas), age 79, of Henrietta Township, and life-long Lorain County resident, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness.She was born September 25, 1923 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a resident of Henrietta Township since the mid 1970's.
Mrs. Zimmerman was a graduate of Lorain High School and went on to attend the Lorain Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Lorain National Bank and a variety of other local financial institutions as well as the Interstate United Corporation of Elyria.
She also assisted her late husband in agricultural and bookkeeping duties at JoMar Farms, their family owned orchard in Henrietta Township.
Mary's interests included ballroom and swing dancing, as well as small animals.
She is survived by her daughter Diane Zimmerman of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and sons Dale of Lorain, and Craig of Henrietta Township, and grandsons Suka and Aaron Zimmerman.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1999, by her parents Dane and Rose (nee Papajcik) Vukas, brother Pete Vukas and sister Ann Vukas.
Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2003 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday beginning at 10:30 AM in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
