Robert Bulloch, 80, Decorated World War II Veteran, active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church
Robert Bulloch, age 80, of Lorain, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bulloch was born August 5, 1922 in Glouster, Ohio and had been a Lorain resident since 1941, coming from Cleveland.He was a 1940 graduate of Glouster High School. Mr. Bulloch was originally employed as an assistant manager for the F.W. Woolworth Company in Lorain. In 1943 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served with Company L of the 321st Infantry of the 81st Division. He saw extensive action throughout the Western Pacific and participated in battle campaigns in Anguar, Peleliu, the liberation of the Philippines, and the occupation of Japan. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, The Good Conduct Medal, and The World War II Victory Medal.
He became associated with the American Crucible Company of Lorain in 1954 as a member of its service department. He was subsequently elevated to the role of production manager, and retired in 1984 as Chief Operating Officer of the Kenco Pump Division of American Crucible.
For the past 53 years he had been an active member of First United Methodist Church of Lorain and its successor, Cornerstone United Methodist Church, where he was currently serving as a trustee and usher.
His hobbies included flower gardening and collecting antiques.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Georgia (nee Donnelly), sons: George A. of Avon, James A. of Amherst, Robert E. of Elyria, and John T. of Brownhelm Township, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary (nee Borland) Bulloch and by a brother James.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2003 from 5-8 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 559 Reid Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Dale Warrick, pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township where military honors will be conducted by members and officers of the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
