Bernard M. "Bernie" Murphy, age 48, of Avon Lake, formerly of Parma, passed away, Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at St. John West Shore following a sudden illness. Mr. Murphy was born May 19, 1954 in Cleveland and has lived in Avon Lake the past 23 years.Mr. Murphy worked as the Warehouse Manager for Fluidtrols Corporation, Avon Lake. He was a 1972 graduate of Padua Franciscan High School Parma and a graduate of Cleveland State University. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and on the Pre-Cana Team. He enjoyed working on cars, crossword puzzles, and was described by his family as a "Mister Fix It Man" who enjoyed doing for others and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Peggy A. (nee Coughlin) whom he married October 18, 1980, Mr. Murphy is survived by 3 daughters: Mary C. Murphy, Molly B. Murphy, and Erin K. Murphy all at home. Other survivors include his brother Leonard Murphy of Warren, Ohio, Timothy Murphy of Sunnyvale, California, and sister Peggy Kerr of North Royalton. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard M. and Bernadette (nee Behner) Murphy and three sisters, Patricia O'Connor, Sr. Marilyn Murphy and Cathleen Bregitzer.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon Thursday, May 8, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Prayer Service will be at the Funeral Home, Friday, May 9 at 9:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 10:00 AM. Father Timothy O'Connor of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Church.
