Flora Tassone, 83, Avid reader, loved animals especially dogs

Flora Tassone, 83, of Lorain, died Monday, May 12, 2003 in Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon following a lengthy illness. She was born February 12, 1920 in Bradford, PA and has lived in Lorain for most of her life.

She was an inspector for 41 years at the former American Crucible, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter. She was an avid reader and loved animals especially dogs.

Survivors include sisters, Carmela Monia of Lorain, and Yolanda Pisciotta of Buena Park, California, half brother Frank Tassone of Winnetka, California, caregiver Virginia Day of Lorain, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents Peter and Mary (Vaccaro) Tassone, brothers Joseph and Patrick and half brother Peter Tassone.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 14, 2003 from 6-8 PM at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., where services will be on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary, Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
