Frank S. "Skip" Bailey, 84, WWII Veteran, interests included golf and bowling

Photo of Frank S. Frank S. "Skip" Bailey, age 84, of Amherst, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born December 3, 1918 in Lorain and had been a resident of Amherst since 1998.

Mr. Bailey was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1936-B. He went on to graduate from the Oberlin School of Commerce as well as the American Savings and Loan Institute of Cleveland, Ohio where he was past president and a member of the Board of Governors.

He was a World War II US Army veteran serving as a Technician 5th Grade with Company B of the 758th Railway Shop Battalion form 1943-1946. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal, and The Good Conduct Medal.

He joined First Federal Savings and Loan of Lorain in 1946 and served as its president from 1973 until the time of his retirement in 1983. He also served as a member of its Board of Directors from 1953 to 2001.

A parishioner and former councilman of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church (Lorain), he was a charter member of Oak Hills Country Club of Lorain, a member and former officer of Polish Fisherman's Club of Lorain, a member of the United Polish Club of Lorain, and a life member of Pulaski Post # 38 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans.

His interests included golf and bowling.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joan (nee Nocleg), daughters: Phyllis Leher of Springfield, Ohio, Beverly Muzilla of Lorain, three grandchildren, a brother Chester Bialorucki of Lorain, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father John Bialorucki in 1977, his mother Mary in 1944, brothers Walter and Louis Bialorucki, and sister Rose Hreha.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2003 beginning at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel and will be followed by funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave. The Reverend Robert Glepko pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
