Patricia A. Gilbert, 71, Avid Cleveland Indians fan, loved to be with her grandchildren
Patricia A. (Adair-White) Gilbert, age 71, of Lorain, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in the intensive care unit of EMH Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born May 21, 1932 in Debarton, West Virginia, and had been a resident of Lorain since 1953.A graduate of Birch High School in Delbarton, she was employed in the restaurant management industry. She served as the manager of a number of local restaurants and eateries the most recent of which was Howard Johnson's which was formerly located at the corner of State Route 57 and Bell Avenue in Elyria.
Mrs. Gilbert was a member of the Praise and Worship Church in Elyria. An avid Cleveland Indians fan, the thing she enjoyed most were the company of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Herbert J., daughters: Marsha Diaz of Wellington, Diane Bryner, Theresa Page, and Tammy Scott all of Lorain, sons: James Gilbert of Elyria and David Gilbert of Wellington, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother James Adair of Hudson, Florida, and a sister Lillian Gervas of Williamson, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Ruth (nee Starr) Adair, by brothers: Fred, Ramson, Dennis, Robert, John, and Howard, and by sisters: Beulah Adair, Lula Adair, Alitha Vaughn, and Aloise Hopkins.
Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2003 from 6-9 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Charles Marcum, pastor of Praise and Worship Church in Elyria, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
