Wilbur "Bill" Lee Poff, 77, US Navy Veteran, owned W.L. Poff Realty, enjoyed the outdoors
Wilbur "Bill" Lee Poff, 77, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in his home after a sudden illness. He was born May 1, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio and has been Vermilion resident since 1962 moving from Lexington, Ohio.Mr. Poff graduated from Kaiser High School in Dayton and Michigan State University. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was the Vice President of Klinghshirn Construction Co., Vermilion, and later became a Realtor and opened up his own real estate company, W.L. Poff Realty and retired in 1980.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, AMVETS Post #22, and a former member of the Lions Club. Mr. Poff enjoyed traveling, and the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one son, Michael J. Poff of Mt. Pleasant, MI, daughter Kristine Hawke of Wooster, OH, four grandchildren, two brothers: Melvin Poff of Dayton, OH and Charles Poff of Belmont, Mississippi, two sisters: Joyce Shrout of Dayton, OH and Jean Fuller of Dayton, OH.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Vivian Poff in 1999, parents Charles and Esther (nee Anspach) Poff, son Mark J. Poff in 1979, brother Miller Dale Poff and sister Charlene Cundiff.
Friends may call Friday, May 23, 2003 from 5-8 PM at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion, Ohio.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
