Helen Bountogianis, 67, Enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends
Helen Bountogianis, age 67, and a resident of Amherst, passed away May 26, 2003 at Amherst Hospital following a lengthy illness. Helen was born March 24, 1936 in Bronx, NY. She was raised in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School, class of 1953. She has been a resident of Amherst since 1993.A devoted homemaker she was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain where she belonged to and was pas president of the Daughters of Penclopy as well as a member and past president of Ladies Philoptochos; she also was a member of the church choir. In 1960's and early 70's she worked as a beautician. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed ceramics.
Survivor include her husband of 47 years, Spero A. Bountogianis, son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Cynthia Bountogianis of Westlake, Ohio, daughter and son-in-law George and Bessie Aslandis of Amherst, two grandchildren, and her sister Fay Demopoulos of Amherst, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Demopoulos and Bessie (nee Tsepenkas) as well as by her brother Eugene Demopoulos.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 27, 2003 from 6-9 PM at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst with Trisagion services at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM from Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain, Ohio. The Fr. Michael Gulgas will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
