Ida K. Kurtis, 90, Would have celebrated 50 Years of marriage on June 1st

Ida K. Kurtis (nee Kohler), age 90, of Avon died Thursday, May 29, 2003 in Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 5, 1913 in Augsburg, Germany. She immigrated in 1953 to Fort Hood, Texas. She accompanied her husband to various posts during his military career. Upon Mr. Kurtis's discharge they made Laurel, Maryland their home for 35 years. In 2002 they moved to Avon Oaks Nursing Home to be close their niece. Mrs. Kurtis enjoyed bowling, bingo and dancing.

Among the survivors is her husband Frank Kurtis they would of been married fifty years on Sunday, June 1st; sister Maria Magdanena "Leni" Langheinrich, of Bad Buchau, Germany; niece Ingrid Stewart of Lorain and Gerda Felton of Edgewater Park, Maryland, nephews Ernst Tausend and Hans Jurgen Becker both of Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johann Gotlieb and Ida (nee Maier) Kohler; brother Hans Kohler and sister Beate Rist.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 2, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st street, South Lorain. The Reverend C. Thomas Cleaton, pastor of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Avon Oaks Nursing Home activity fund, 37800 French Creek Road, Avon, Ohio 44011.
