Paul E. Fundak, 95, US Steel Retiree, enoyed photography, traveling, had a love of learning, and being with family

Mr. Fundak worked at US Steel in Lorain in the safety and fire department and then as a machinist in the machine shops for 47 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain.
Mr. Fundak enjoyed gardening, astronomy, photography, and traveling in his camper. He enjoyed spending time by the lake and built his own boat. He was a jack-of-all-trades at home and enjoyed the challenge of fixing things. Mr. Fundak enjoyed flying and had flown a Cessna plane. He had a love of learning and enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Blanche Marie (nee Surgalski), daughters Pauline "Polly" Furr and Carol F. Collins, M.D., both of Westlake, granddaughters Caroline Collins, Jennifer Collins, and Cristen Collins, all of Westlake, sisters Mary Tonich and Agnes George, both of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Brigeta (nee Kecak) Fundak, brothers Frank Fundak, Steve Fundak, and John "Pee Wee" Fundak, and sister Elizabeth Fundak in infancy.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 5, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, and the Rev. William Schill, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will follow.
