Theodore M. Godek, 88, Organized Church CYO
Theodore M. Godek, 88, of Lorain, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain after a short illness.He was born December 28, 1914 in Cleveland and had resided in Lorain since 1945.
Mr. Godek worked at Fruehauf Trailer in Avon Lake for 24 � years and then worked at Rockwell International in Wellington for 10 years retiring in 1979.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Holy Name Society in which he was a past president and officer. He established CYO athletics at St. Stanislaus and was a member of the Lorain Golden Age Pensioners Club in which he served as a historian.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Werczynski of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (nee Czarnecki) on September 18, 2001; son, Thomas Godek in 1980; parents Peter and Harriet (nee Firnfara) Godek and brothers Joseph Godek and John Godek.
The family will receive friends, Sunday, June 8, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society will pray the rosary Sunday, at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, and the Rev. William Schill, deacon will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
