Edward Baker, 75, Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed mowing yards and flea markets

Photo of Edward Baker Edward Baker, 75, of Sheffield Township, died early Sunday morning, June 8, 2003 at the home of his daughter following a brief illness. Mr. Baker was born on July 12, 1927 in Somerset, KY and has lived in the Lorain area since December 1950.

He served in the US Army as a military policeman during WW II. He retired in 1989 as the parts man for E & L Transport after 30 years service. He was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed mowing yards and flea markets. He also enjoyed being a jokester. Mr. Baker was a lifetime member of VFW Post # 1662 in Vermilion and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his daughters Deborah Mihalcik of Sheffield Township, Mary Jo Baker-Steineck of Lorain, sons Daniel L. Baker of Lorain, James A Baker of Sheffield Township, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a brother Charles Baker of Somerset, KY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife Norma J. (nee Hines) Baker in 1978, his parents, Wesley and Mary (nee Parsons) Baker, an infant brother and a sister Mary Magdeline Jones.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. James Ols, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church officiating. Burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Avon with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 451 of Lorain. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
