John A. Perhot, 88, Owned and operated Perhot's Auto Service, Lorain, enjoyed hunting and bowling
John A. Perhot, age 88, of Avon, died on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain, following a brief illness.He was born on February 26, 1915 in Slovan, PA. He came to Lorain in 1951 and resided there until moving to Avon in 1991. He was originally employed at the former Lorain Slag Company. In 1964, he along with his son Alan, opened Perhot's Auto Service in Lorain. Together they owned and operated the business until John's retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps; a member of A.A.R.P., and was a former member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 136. He had enjoyed bowling and hunting.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Rudy Perhot, of Longview, Texas, and Alan Perhot, of Lorain, 2 daughters, Sandra Nahm, of Amherst, and Elizabeth (Betty) Bomback, of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandsons, and companion Theresa O'Bran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth (Liz) (nee Zabrusky) in 1988, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and a grandson Lee Bomback in 1999.
Funeral services for the family were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, with the Rev. Mr. James K. DeBrason, Deacon of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, officiating. Burial followed in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
