Jean E. Hunker, 84, Volunteer at Community Health Partners, on the Board of Directors, enjoyed traveling

She was born November 4, 1918 in Lorain, Ohio. She has been a Vermilion resident for the past 35 years.

She worked as an accounting clerk for American Ship building Company in Lorain for 20 years. She also volunteered at Lorain Community Hospital since 1979 and a New Life Hospice Center.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Lorain where she taught Sunday School and helped produce the church newsletter. She had been the president of the Volunteers and head of the Candy Stripers at Community Health Partners and Surgical Center. She had been on the hospital Board of Directors. When she was younger, she enjoyed volunteering at the Election Booths. She had been the head of the Lorain Broadway Review (Follies). She enjoyed reading, traveling, and following current news. She traveled to Egypt last year and to Turkey in 2000 and participated in an archeological dig.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Desrosiers of Green, Ohio, Gloria Jean Johnston of Crandon, Wisconsin and Laurel Koba of Huron, a brother Richard P. Hunker of Henderson, Nevada, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Hunker in 1988, a brother, Burt D. Seniff, son-in-law Donald Desrosiers, sister-in-law Janice Cunningham and her parents Alvae and Elizabeth (nee Schneider) Seneff.

Friends may call Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
