John Humphrey Campbell, 67, Served 23 years in the US Air Force, flew cargo missions in Vietnam

John Humphrey Campbell, 67 years of age, and a resident of Wellington, passed away Monday, June 9, 2003 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born February 29, 1936 in Sheffield and raised in Lorain. He has been a resident of Wellington for the past 15 years.

Mr. Campbell served in the US Air Force for 23 years retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force he served in Vietnam flying cargo and transportation missions. He owned and operated Willdo Manufacturing in Wellington for five years.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sylvia Lois (nee Manning) Campbell, his sons, Bobby Campbell of Dayton, Darrell Campbell of Elyria, Michael Campbell of Wellington, and Seth Driver at home, his daughters Gayle Odom of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Pamela Garcia of Orlando, Florida, and Jennifer Campbell at home, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his brothers Clarence Campbell of Vermilion and Benjamin Campbell, and his sisters Ella Smith of Frankfort, Kentucky, Mary Absher of Berlin Heights, and Evelyn Novak of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his parents John William and Evelyn (nee Luman) Campbell.

Friends may call Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be performing honors. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
