Alfred A. Perrier, 83, US Steel Retiree, enjoyed reading and doing puzzles

Alfred A. Perrier, age 83, of Lorain, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain after a long illness.

He was born August 31, 1919 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. Mr. Perrier was a graduate of Lorain High School.

He worked at US Steel in Lorain in the Boiler Shop for 30 years retiring in 1981.

Mr. Perrier was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the church Holy Name Society and St. Peter Seniors. He was a past member of the Knights of St. John where he played in the Knights band. He enjoyed reading and puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Gladys (nee Graves), daughter Linda Amato of Lorain, 3 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren, sister Marie Montalto of Lorain and brother Vincent Perrier of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Carmela "Minnie" (nee Bove) Perrier and sisters Dena Dimacchia and Lucy Phillips.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Peter Holy Name Society will pray the rosary Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
