Paul Ralph Smith, 86, of North Ridgeville and formerly of Avon passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Renaissance Nursing Home, Olmsted Township. He was born December 30, 1916 in Canton, Ohio.Mr. Smith was employed as an Industrial Engineer with U.S. Steel, Lorain before retiring. He was a mason for over sixty years and a member of the Avon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and other card games, watercolor painting, fishing and hunting, and his family.
Paul is survived by one son, Richard Smith (Sandy) of Rapid City, South Dakota, daughter Karel Pickering (John) of Avon, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Erma (nee Whitacre) in 1991, a son, Thomas Smith, a sister, Katherine Heidy and his parents, Ralph and Lillian Smith.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon Monday, June 16, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m. Rev. John Butchko, pastor of Avon United Methodist Church will officiate. Private committal services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
