James E. Klein, 52, US Navy Veteran of Vietnam War and enjoyed woodworking

James E. Klein, 52, of Valparaiso, Indiana and formerly of Lorain and Elyria, died Monday June 16, 2003 at his brother's home after a long illness.

He was born October 24, 1950 in Lorain and had resided in Valparaiso for one year moving from Texas. He grew up in Lorain and Elyria.

He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Klein worked for Scaly Precision Manufacturing in Sealy, Texas as a foreman for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking.

He was a past member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria.

He is survived by his father George J. Klein, Sr., of Lorain, sisters: Paula Klein of Rapid City, South Dakota and Barbara Klein of Asheville, North Carolina; brothers George J. Klein, Jr. of Valparaiso, Indiana and Gerald Klein of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his mother Paula Klein (nee Neumann) in 1964.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. David Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will provide military honors.
