Daniel Joseph Makruski, 61, Loved to work on cars, car racing, and being with family and friends
Daniel Joseph Makruski, 61 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain following a lengthy illness.He was born July 30, 1941 in Amherst. He was raised and lived in South Amherst until moving to Amherst in 1999. He was a graduate of South Amherst High School with the class of 1959.
Daniel served in the Army National Guard. He owned and operated the Makruski Gas Station in South Amherst for ten years and also worked for Invacare in Elyria. He loved working on cars, car racing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons: Daniel E. Makruski of Amherst, Joseph B. Makruski of Sheffield Lake and Russell P. Makruski of Lorain, two grandchildren, his brothers Richard Makruski of the Massillon area and his sisters Pat Schmitz, Marilyn Makruski, and Linda Galloway, all of South Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Makruski in 1984 and Rose A. (nee Szeliga) Makruski, in 1981.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph Warner, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
