Arlene M. Grubic, 72, Registered Nurse
Arlene M. Grubic (nee Mramor), age 72, of North Port, Florida, and formerly of Lorain, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 24, 2003 in Columbus, Ohio while visiting her family.Ms. Grubic was born June 27, 1930 in Lorain and had been a resident of Nor Port since 2001 coming from Lorain.
She attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School and was a 1948-B graduate of Lorain High School. She went on to complete studies at the M.B. Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria and passed her state certification as a registered nurse. She latered attended Mount Saint Joseph College in suburban Cincinnati and received additional certification as a Pediatric Nurse Associate in 1977.
She was employed as a registered nurse in the pediatric unit of the former Saint Joseph Hospital from 1951 to 1964. She joined the Lorain City Health Department in the mid 1960’s serving as a pediatric nurse specialist. Prior to her retirement, she served the Lorain County Health Department in a similar capacity.
Ms. Grubic was a parishioner of St. Pedro Catholic Church in North Port and was a former parishioner of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1892 in North Port as well as a member of K.S.K.J. Slovenian Fraternal Lodge #85.
A long time volunteer with the Easter Seals Society, her hobbies included reading (especially novels), sewing, crafts and antiques.
She is survived by her son: Frank Fritz residing in New London, by a daughter: Peggy Baker of Columbus, 5 grandchildren, sisters: Virginia Erdy of Amherst, and Mary Ellen Eaton of Columbus and a brother, Joseph J. Mramor of Avon.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Alison Dodson in 2002 and by her parents, Joseph P. and Amelia (nee Tomazic) Mramor.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2003 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where a parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, beginning at 9:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10 a.m. in Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 1705 E. 31st Street, Lorain with the Rev. Paul Krajnik, pastor officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date.
