James M. Snyder, 81, Enjoyed bird watching and hunting

James M. Snyder, 81, of Avon passed away Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Avon following a lengthy illness.

He was born December 5, 1921 in Glenville, West Virginia and moved to Avon from Grafton in 1966. During World War II and the Korean War he served as a Sergeant in the Army. He was employed as a Grounds Superintendent for Avon Oaks Country Club, Avon for 36 years, retiring at the age of 71. He was a member of the Avon V.F.W. Post 7035 and enjoyed bird watching and hunting.

Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys (nee McCumbers) a son James "Mike" Snyder of Avon, two daughters, Carolyn Loewy (Michael) of Avon Lake, and Kim Zajac (David) of Avon, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and a sister Marie Wilfong of Huntington, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters and his parents, John N. and Carrie Belle (nee Cheauvront) Snyder.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Rd. Avon from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003. Rev. John Butchko, pastor of the Avon United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman where military honors will take place. Memorials may be forwarded to V.F.W.
