Gay Armentrout, 83, Enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and being with family and friends
Gay Armentrout, age 83, of Lorain, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 in Lorain Specialty Hospital, following a brief illness.Born January 13, 1920 in Harman, West Virginia, Mrs. Armentrout had lived in Lorain since June of 1953. She had worked for the former Kresge's Dime Store in Lorain for a number of years, and had worked at the former Jupiter Department Store in Lorain for a number of years, as well as working for the former Muir's Drug Store in Lorain, and she had sold Avon Products in Lorain for over 20 years. She was a member of the Lorain Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and Hostess for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and her flowerbeds, as well as being outdoors. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Wilma Morton of Lorain, a grandson and his wife, Bob and Sandra Morton of Lorain, one great grandson, Brandon Morton of Lorain, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Armentrout in 1998, after 51 years of marriage, one brother, Walter G. Yokum and one sister, Nellie Meadows, also by her parents Walter and Mary Jane (Judy) Yokum.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. noon in the Lorain Baptist Church, 3640 Palm Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Donnie Yates of Indiana, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, Avon.
