Rosemary Josephine Hardesty, 74, Enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, bowling, and baking

Rosemary Josephine Hardesty (nee Garbo), age 74, of Avon Lake, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a 2-month illness.

She was born November 26, 1928 in Lorain where she graduated from high school. Rosemary moved to Avon Lake in 1952 coming from the Sheffield Lake and Lorain communities. She was a homemaker and head bakery clerk at Rini Rego's Grocery Stores in Avon Lake and Strongsville, retiring in the early 90's. In the 1950's she was a co-owner with her husband and clerk at Brownie's Market in Sheffield Lake. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Avon Lake and U.F.C.W. (United Food and Commercial Worker's) Local 880. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, yardwork, traveling, bowling, baking, and cooking.

Mrs. Hardesty is survived by three daughters: Bonnie Marie Watt (Gerry) of Middlesex, Pennsylvania, Linda Martin of Strongsville, and Kay Carbone (Ken) of Avon Lake, two sons, Don (Gayle) of Amherst and Jim (Janice) of West Palm Beach, Florida, nine grandchildren, sister Frances Tyler of Newport Beach, California, and brother Dominic Garbo of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Loyal W. "Brownie" in January, four brothers: Joseph, Phillip, Tony, and Guiseppe Garbo, and her parents, Salvador and Josephine (nee Buonavita) Garbo.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. Prayer Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 7, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Timothy J. O'Connor, pastor of St. Joseph Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
