Robert E. Mower, 90, WW II Veteran, retired from National Tube after 30 years
Robert E. Mower, 90 of Lorain died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in Lorain, OH. He was born on September 6, 1912 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident.Mr. Mower was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1930 B. He attended Western Reserve (now known as Case Western Reserve University) for two years. He was a Sergeant in the US Army serving during World War II.
He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Mr. Mower retired in 1975 as a shipper in the pipe mill at National Tube after 30 years service. Mr. Mower was also an insurance salesman for the Schieferstein Insurance Agency. He was a member of United SteelWorkers Union Local #1104. Mr. Mower was very proud of the fact that he was the grandson of the general contractor that built the former Moxham House in South Lorain and many of the steel mill office buildings.
He is survived by his daughter Ruth (Mower) Roden of Avon Lake, son William Mower of Amherst, one grandson and a sister, Elaine Mower of Lorain, OH.
Mr. Mower was preceded in death by his wife Jewel (nee Petty) Mower in 1993, his parents Charles and ZeRua (nee Hill) Mower.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 on Monday, July 7, 2003 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will held on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Sedgwick, pastor of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer officiating. Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
