Robert J. Pierce, 67, Enjoyed flower gardening, and being with his grandchildren

Photo of Robert J. Pierce Robert J. Pierce "Bob", 67 of Vermilion, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Community Health Partners West, Lorain, Ohio. He was born June 9, 1936 in Cuba, New York, and moved to Vermilion in 1958 from Friendship, New York.

He worked for Ford Motor, Lorain and also worked as a truck driver for the Ford Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake. He retired in 1999 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Firelands Baptist Church, and a former member of the Amherst Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Pierce (nee Williams), 4 sons: Jeff Austin of Vermilion, Bill Pierce of Vermilion, Brian Pierce of Great Falls, MT, and Robert Pierce of Louisville, KY, daughter Barbara Pierce of Franklinville, NY, 15 grandchildren, 4 brothers: Ed Pierce of Amherst, James Pierce of Warren, PA, Albert "Dobie" Pierce of Friendship, NY and Ron Pierce of Olean, NY, 4 sisters: Dories Schoonover of Friendship, NY, Mary Lozell of Friendship, NY, Bert Pierce of Wixom, MI, and Gloria Homuth, of Cuba, NY.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and Dorothy Ellen (nee Shanley) Pierce, daughter Sharon Pierce, a brother John Pierce, and sisters Nellie Graves, Laura Williams, and Linda Ishman.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 8, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Leon Simpson, pastor of the Firelands Church, will officiate. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
