Frank N. Gasper, 94, US Steel retiree, enjoyed fixing things

Frank N. Gasper, 94, of Lorain, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a brief illness.

He was born May 30, 1909 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Mr. Gasper worked at US Steel in Lorain as a maintenance welder for 32 years, retiring in 1972.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain.

Mr. Gasper was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his garage fixing thins and helping his friends fix things.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Garland of Maple Heights, son Allen Gasper of Lorain and brother Dr. Louis Gasper of California. He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanna (nee Popik) on May 28, 2003, parents Daniel and Matilda (nee Cindric) Gasper and brothers Steve and Michael Gasper, and a sister Catherine Stastny.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 9, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a Parastas Service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church. The Rev. James Batcha, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
