Gary W. Keene, 50, Enjoyed music, gardening, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles

Gary W. "Yosemite Sam" Keene, age 50, of Lorain, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 in the Community Health Partners Hospital West, following a sudden heart attack.

Born September 16, 1952 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he had lived in Lorain since 1958 coming form Massachusetts. He was a 1971 graduate and member of the first graduating class of Southview High School in Lorain. He had been employed at the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority for a number of years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #18 of Cleveland. He was a former member of the "Iron Coffin" Motorcycle club of Toledo. He had enjoyed music, gardening, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Sandra D. (nee Stevens) Keene, whom he married May 21, 1997, and whom he had been together with for the past 12 years, his father Herman E. Keene, Jr., of Lorain, 2 sons, Quentin Keene of Texas and Buddy Galvan of Lorain, 2 daughters, Autumn Keene Redford of Richmond, Virginia, and Melissa Galvan of Lorain, 1 granddaughter, 2 brothers, Wayne of Amherst and Dennis of Lorain, 3 sisters, Kathleen Baskin of Laguna Hills, California, Pamela Coso of Aliso Viejo, California, and Debora Hutchinson of Lorain, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa "Terry" (nee Quinn) Keene on August 31, 2000.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a memorial fund to be established, in memory of Gary Keene, in care of the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44055.
