Helen Bartus, 76, Registered Nurse, loved to take in strays, especially cats and dogs
Helen Bartus, age 76, of Wakeman, Ohio died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin after a lengthy illness. She was born July 1, 1927 in Elyria, Ohio and has lived in Wakeman for the past 27 years coming from Parma.She was a Registered Nurse at Brecksville Veterans Hospital for 25 years. After her retirement from the hospital she worked in several area nursing homes and did home health care in Cleveland for several years.
Helen was a graduate from Elyria High School. She then went on to Cleveland State University, graduating with a Registered Nursing Degree. She loved to take in stray animals and care for cats and dogs.
Surviving her are her sisters Mary Ann Fiedler of Arlington, Texas, and Ann Nau of Lorain, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Veronica Bartus, sisters Stella Stanfield and Ethel Jacobs, and brother George Jacobs.
Private services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2003. Members of Birmingham Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will officiate. Burial will take place in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
