Minnie Galler, 82, Served during WW II in the Army Nurse's Corps, enjoyed genealogy, and traveling
Minnie Galler (nee Oosting), 82, of Avon Lake passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a sudden illness. She was born November 10, 1920 in Muskegon, Michigan and moved to Avon Lake 42 years ago.She was educated as a registered nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Massachusetts and retired from St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain in 1988. During World War II she served as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps. She met her husband in Frankfurt Germany, where he served as a Medical Corps and Surgical Technician for the Army. Minnie was an active volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital as well as various civic organizations. She enjoyed keeping touch with her co-workers's, genealogy, traveling, and was interested in the preservation of covered bridges and lighthouses.
Mrs. Galler is survived by her husband of 55 years, William J., daughter Rosalia Dufault (Phil) of Anchorage, Alaska, two sons, William (Barbara) of Redmond, Washington, and James (Jeannette) of Stokesdale, North Carolina, a sister Christina Knowles of Muskegon, Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Menno and Theresa (nee Orschel) Oosting and eight brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2003. Services will be held at the Chapel at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Rd., Avon on Saturday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the cemetery, where military honors will take place.
