William B. Conway, 70, US Navy Veteran, enjoyed woodworking, and his grandchildren

He served in the US Navy from 1951-1955 and 1961-1965. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland for many years. Mr. Conway also served in the Great Lakes Merchant Marines. He worked as an Assembly Supervisor for Ford Motor Company from 1969 until retiring in 1997. He was a member of Masonic Ely Lodge #424 in Vermilion, Amvets Post #22, and the American Legion Post 397. He enjoyed woodworking, his grandchildren, and being a helping hand to many with their building projects.
Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Gudridur Conway (nee Krisjansdottir) of Vermilion, daughter, Anna Conway of Vermilion, sons David and John Conway of Vermilion, and 3 grandchildren: Brittany, Abby, and Emma Conway.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bernard and Anna (nee Domoy) Conway and brother, Gerald.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. by Ely Lodge #424. They will also receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend Terry Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will provide military Honors. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
