Lydema Weikel Ward, 87, Resident Director for YWCA in Schenectady, New York
Lydema Weikel Ward, 87 of Niskayuna, New York, formerly of Lorain died on Friday, July 11, 2003 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in New York following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Ward was born in Lorain, Ohio.She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was the House Director at the University of Michigan for three years after living in Lorain for many years. She then moved to Schenectady, New York where she was employed as the resident Director of the YWCA for many years.
She is survived by her daughter RaeDene Dales of Niskayuna, New York, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, stepchildren Sherman C. Ward, Jr. of Haddonfield, New Jersey, Donald Ward of Savannah, Georgia, and Howard E. Ward of Florida.
She was preceded in death y her husband, Dr. Sherman C. Ward in 1958, one son Raymond J. Bauer Jr., and her parents William and Lyda (nee Kohler) Weikel and one step brother Robert A. Ward.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at noon in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, Ohio with Rev. James E. Smucker, pastor of the Heritage Presbyterian Church, Amherst officiating. Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 is handling the local arrangements.
